REIMAGINING RECOVERY FOR HOMELESS VETERANS
Guitars for veterans
Helping veterans find hope behind the wood and strings of an acoustic guitar. Most of us have a minor life story about our early exposure to music. I can remember summer Saturday nights at a friend’s house, where his dad and three or four of his friends would sit in...

Permission
Once you arrive at Boot Camp in the darkness of night and are greeted by a crisply uniformed and rabidly unfriendly Drill Instructor, you quickly realize that the implied permissions you took for granted in your basic human living, have been stripped from your control. You must now ask permission for them
At Warriors Once Again we give ourselves permission to rest even when we haven’t expended all of our energy, and it has become one of the foundations of our program to which we can assign credit for our successes.
A Meaningful Milestone
Transitional beds for homeless veterans are merely the first step in a process. While recovering them to complete wellness and independent living is the goal, the path to get them there and the support needed to keep them there is challenging.
Celebrate with us in recovering and serving our 25th veteran resident, and please consider a donation as we reaffirm our commitment to the solemn mission we have started on behalf of our community, to end veteran homelessness in Spartanburg.
Going Backward To Go Forward
We counsel our veterans to “give yourself permission” to let go. Let go of the wasted efforts, let go of what you hoped would happen and give yourself permission to relax in the difficult circumstances and receive the good things this program offers. It is the generosity and support of our donors that allows us to carry men in times when they can’t carry themselves and provide for them, at no expense to them.
we can do more
Occasionally we find out about homeless veterans who are not suited to our residence program, or at a time when we have no beds available. In such instances we make every effort possible to ensure that veteran’s safety and access to resources
sacrifice
True giving involves sacrifice, and the very nature of sacrifice is to accomplish something better.
Community Collaboration
Warriors Once Again is excited to announce our new partnership with Emerge Family Therapy Center and Teaching Clinic, to provide counseling for our veteran residents at no cost to them. Emerge’s ability to provide veteran informed counseling paves the way for them to address the nuances of impact that service in the armed forces can sometimes have on our servicemen. We are pleased to be able to provide this free of charge to our veterans who would like to take advantage of it in their recovery.
Isolation
One of the heartbreaking aspects of doing what we do is encountering veterans who have endured soul-crushing isolation. We recognize its effects not just on their mental health, but their physical health as well.
